Peter Jung deserted the family and returned to Europe. Anna divorced him which was finalized on 3 Oct. 1925. Betty was born July 1921 in Pacace, N. J. Therefore, Anna re-located from Cleveland to N. J. likely after Peter Jung deserted. She likely went to be with her brother Franz since we know he arrived there years before. However, we know she moved back to Cleveland at least one year before 2 July 1925, the date of her divorce filing. Joe Flach wrote that Peter Jung's first family children moved back to Europe some time after 1918 (WWI ended) and he sent money there. So, Betty's birth along with a 9 month gestation defines his return to Europe toward the end of 1920 or early 1921. |

In the album is a timeline image showing Anna's marriage with Peter Jung. Peter's first wife died in 1913 leaving him with three young children. At the time of marriage 29 May 1916 Peter lived on E. 32 St. and Anna on E. 43 St. Anna generally worked as a nanny and it is very likely she was caring for the three children. The timeline demonstrates that the baby Petie that lived till age 3 was conceived about 4 months prior to the marriage. Peter and Anna then had daughter Ann but by the 1920 census the children from the first marriage were already sent back to Europe to live with the grandparents (after 1918). Peter deserted and returned to Europe in the time period 9 months prior to Betty's birth in New Jersey in 1921. |
